Okay, sure, the phylogeny looks weird, but you have to consider that they're really not describing the biology of this planet at all.

My first thought was to check if the phylogeny was rooted in a weird place, as I saw more of the terminals, that quickly turned out to be the equivalent of asking if we remembered to lock the front door while a meteorite hits the city.
