The current Democratic leadership features Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries. I'd challenge anyone to point to anything of substance they've done to stop Trump or even slow him down. Why WOULDN'T people be looking for alternatives at this point?

Really really dislike Sanders having any sway given how horrible he is at picking good people.
Why is Sanders in this list? Sure, he caucuses with Dems but he's an independent. He's not a Democratic party poltiical figure, he's what one should be, which is probably why he is not one.

Bernie is emblematic of the Fighting wing of the party, which I think has higher salience now than any left-moderate ideology. Voters—progressives, moderates, and independents alike—are sick and tired of Democratic torpor in the face of Trump and the GOP’s looting and ensmallening of our country.
it’s style not substance. you can be a moderate on policy but if youre forceful, charismatic, etc., people will get behind you. worst thing you can be in today’s politics is boring

Bernie Sanders is and always has been a cranky old man. What young people saw in him to distill a galvanizing leader is just a bizarre wobble I will never understand.
It's definitely about authenticity and anti-establishment rhetoric. Most folks hate the status quo and understand that the wealth gap is out of control.

If the guy who could not pull his endorsement of a sexual predator until today (and even then merely recommended he "step aside in light of allegations") is the most favorable Democratic political figure today, maybe one should be uneasy about the future of the Democratic party.

I read the other day that he is the politician with the highest approval in the US. It's amazing that the last decade has been nothing but battles between the least popular politicians and Sanders is treated as an outcast. He's what people say they want!
