Here’s a huge data point in the current debate about why DSA candidates are suddenly winning everywhere: Bernie Sanders is the most favorable Democratic political figure today — even among self-described ideological “moderates.” Huh? www.gelliottmorris.com/p/2026-07-07...

The current Democratic leadership features Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries. I'd challenge anyone to point to anything of substance they've done to stop Trump or even slow him down. Why WOULDN'T people be looking for alternatives at this point?

Professional Shitposter RETVRNS · 15d

Bad times ahead, then

Mister Magic · 11d

He's tied with Newsom lol And Mamdani is towards the bottom? What is this?

Tom · 15d

Really really dislike Sanders having any sway given how horrible he is at picking good people.

Pruit Igoe · 15d

Why is Sanders in this list? Sure, he caucuses with Dems but he's an independent. He's not a Democratic party poltiical figure, he's what one should be, which is probably why he is not one.

•Ap_Saegge Tarabiscoté*e · 15d

I mean Sanders is the most obvious guy with moderate policies so no surprises there

Patrick McDougle · 15d

The political spectrum isn't a line. It's a circle.

garnet · 15d

In what universe are NewYork and Colorado "everywhere"?

Good Vibes Villain · 15d

Newsom, Buttigieg, and Jeffries being higher than Mamdani makes my eyes narrow.

The popular narrative is that Schumer is despised by progressives but supported by the moderates the Party needs to win. Can you speak to why this is so discordant with the data?

David J. DeVore · 15d

Democratic socialists aren’t winning everywhere. They’re winning a handful of deep blue districts. Please don’t fall into the trap of parroting false narratives. You’re better than this.

Whirled Bizarre · 15d

Democratic Socialists are New Deal Democrats and Establishment Democrats are Reagan Democrats. The dawn may finally be breaking on the Reagan fever dream.

Pete Rhomberg · 15d

Bernie is emblematic of the Fighting wing of the party, which I think has higher salience now than any left-moderate ideology. Voters—progressives, moderates, and independents alike—are sick and tired of Democratic torpor in the face of Trump and the GOP’s looting and ensmallening of our country.

@vinnyfists.bsky.social · 15d

it’s style not substance. you can be a moderate on policy but if youre forceful, charismatic, etc., people will get behind you. worst thing you can be in today’s politics is boring

Bmoricuan · 15d

Maybe not after this Planter debacle, Sanders' judgements here speaks to his moral-political failures when it comes to his own campaign & whom he supports for office. I have never trusted him, and very clearly remember the words &stances of the BernieBros

Randy Herman · 15d

Ironically, Bernie is favorable everywhere but on Bluesky

Iftah Aynayk · 15d

Haven't been able to stand Bernie since 2016. He has terrible judgment.

River Tide · 11d

Bernie Sanders is and always has been a cranky old man. What young people saw in him to distill a galvanizing leader is just a bizarre wobble I will never understand.

Todd Ching · 15d

It's definitely about authenticity and anti-establishment rhetoric. Most folks hate the status quo and understand that the wealth gap is out of control.

🦘 Dr. Wombat 🦘🔥 Horse 🔥 · 15d

It’s almost as if authenticity and sticking to your highest ideals actually resonates with voters…who’d a thunkit?

Taylor Grayson · 15d

"Democrats want their leaders to fight" Yep. I also find myself more favorably inclined toward the DSA folk because of this, and that worries me. It's probably how conservatives stumbled their way into fascism.

If the guy who could not pull his endorsement of a sexual predator until today (and even then merely recommended he "step aside in light of allegations") is the most favorable Democratic political figure today, maybe one should be uneasy about the future of the Democratic party.

@mwmccoy.bsky.social · 15d

conservative democrats/independents appear to not really like anyone very much.

Big Beautiful Blue Wall · 15d

It's the same reason for MAGA support levels Complete political ignorance.

No Pasaran · 15d

Because we want a change, a real, tangible change for the better, in our lives and in our government.

caithow · 15d

Everyone hates Schumer 🤣

@mister914.bsky.social · 15d

I read the other day that he is the politician with the highest approval in the US. It's amazing that the last decade has been nothing but battles between the least popular politicians and Sanders is treated as an outcast. He's what people say they want!

Maku Atherton · 15d

The Democratic Party may just be doomed. Be ready for it.

Betsy Cazden · 15d

Has Bernie commented on Platner yet? It seems to me after this disastrous flame-out of his #1 protegee, Bernie needs to go sit down in the back and do some self-reflection, or at least stop playing king-maker.
