New: The FDA is retracting its previous statement about detecting cyclospora in an unrecalled lot of Taylor Farms lettuce “FDA laboratory experts re-reviewed the sample results and have concluded that the finding does not represent true amplification and should be considered a false positive.”

I don’t think we can put any faith in the Trump Administration’s FDA.

my hunch on this is that they had a presumptive positive result that was later verified to be contamination via sequencing. the assay uses a synthetic positive control. only way to know for sure is if they elaborate in a follow up i guess.

They don’t even pretend to do anything but corruption. In fact, it is a requirement for associating with the regime. “Your hands are dirty, so are ours. We wash them together.” 💣 Citizens United!

The heat came down from the WH to retract bc the owner is a big donor to assface!

"After further review, it has been determined they made a hefty campaign donation"

FDA Laboratory Experts

Why can’t these experts speak for themselves?

One of two things must happen now. 1. Taylor Farms sues FDA's ass off. 2. Taylor Farms does nothing, pointing to a bribe. In the second option, the public boycotts Taylor Farms because if you don't, you eat diarrhea lettuce.

It doesn’t make sense. There is no such thing as “true amplification”. They just moved the goal posts.

Right. Just after Taylor talked to trump

The marketplace will punish this brand I would hope

At least one summary I've seen going around, but have not watched the youtube, only read the TL;DR in the post, said that "yes, one sample turned out to be a false positive. There are multiple other positive samples".

FDA’s screening method for Cyclospora is a standard qPCR protocol targeting a diagnostic mitochondrial DNA gene (Cyclospora is a eukaryote, not a bacteria)… there are several common sources of qPCR false positives, but IMO the most common is cross-contaminated samples FDA should clarify
