This is my favorite novella of yours. I look forward to the movie. We should all credit you greatly for this genre. This and Running Man surely provided much inspiration to The Hunger Games (and Japan's Battle Royale), Squid Games, and so forth.
Read it earlier this year. It'll be interesting to see how they've adapted this one for the screen and the current times.
Someone told me this story, when I was in 7th grade, and said it was called Running Man. Which I why I bought and read RM; to get the whole story. It wasn't the same story.

I read this story almost 40 years ago in my school library's copy of The Bachman Books, and it has stayed with my ever since then. That's a hallmark of great storytelling. Bravo, Mr. King.
The Long Walk wows me because there is so much depth in the book, and the movie too when it’s literally a bunch of guys walking. So good!
This booked fucked me up when I read it 30 years ago. But just from the trailer, it’s exactly like the pictures in my head as I read it. So disturbing. And now, so real.

I loved this book but it hurt me. Haunts me like no other of your books, and you have many that are haunting. Not sure I can watch it as a movie. But I am tempted by how amazing this looks.

Oh hell yeah! One of my favorites has finally been adapted! And they changed the speed to 3 mph! My suspension of disbelief had no problem with the Walk premise, but 4 mph… once I tried maintaining that pace, every reread was like, no way is that possible!
I think the trailer shows too much I feel I have already finished watching the entire film.
100% the bleakest story you have written, and I absolutely loved it back then as I do now. I always presumed it was a metaphor for enlisting in the army, seeing as Vietnam was still raw then. Then again, I'm frequently wrong. I said before, it's one of those that stays with you.

I watched the trailer and while by no means does it compare to horror of the Bataan Death March, I did think of a long dead cousin who survived that.
I love this story. Such a grim tale, but a fun read.

My Dad had every book you wrote and watched all of your movies. He passed last September. I think he would have really liked this movie. He was such a fan. I now have his book collection. The first movie of yours I saw was Pet Cemetery with my parents.

One of my fav stories
This novella the whole collection, really, made such an impact on me. I think back to Rage and the Long Walk and man, I think it’s your fault I’m a teacher. Your books saved me, I’m trying to repay the favor. I can quote, turn dog eared pages to passages that heal or feel and still find new.

I read this book in the library 40 years ago at the age of 12. It was an edition that didn’t have your name on it as the author. In the intervening years, I’ve read all your books, but I haven’t read this one since and it still haunts me. I’m not sure I can actually handle watching this as a movie.

This is one of the books I have read many, many times. I’m on roughly my fourth copy as I have gifted the book to others. Everyone you read it there’s a different set of emotions, it always wraps around my mood.

I am exited to see this. I would name The long walk as one of the books that has left the biggest impression on me, despite it being relatively short. I have read it four times. The first time when I was 16, and the last time as 30 yo. It works on many levels.

I’ll wait till I see it, but nothing here really captures the spirt and grind of the book, it just falls into that typical YA dystopian look and feel. You really captured such a desperate / hopeless struggle in the book - it’s a walking cosmic horror, an endurance of life beyond all odds. This?

This short story absolutely devastated me. I often find myself thinking about it. I remember thinking a movie with River Phoenix starring would be made and was surprised it never came about. Not sure I can handle a movie version now
