The hero archetype is first and foremost about control of one’s own will and destiny. Self indulgent man babies angry at the world ain’t it.
I know you guys think it’s only women exhausted by this bullshit, but I promise it’s not. There are endless opportunities to do good, and if your real problem is lack of praise, you haven’t even understood the stupid archetype.
Which is it, Chris? Is the problem that we are too individualistic and focused on creating our own identities, or are we not respecting men's supposedly innate need to be "heroes" who individualistically stand out from the crowd? And if they're such heroes, why do they need everyone to applaud?

As an older dad of a toddler, the amount of men I meet via playdates between our kids who are absolute narcissistic losers who find the very duty of raising a kid right to be a burden is about 7 out of 10. There are opportunities to be heroes - these men don't want that. They want to be coddled.
