Rewatched several times. There is so much to unpack in this most thoughtful and intelligent work. The language we speak shapes our cognitive processes. If you knew the end was sad, would you take the beautiful journey? All of your correct assumptions could be wrong.
I loved this movie I wish I could see it for the first time again but I've already seen it tomorrow.

My favorite "first contact" film. I love the movie's dreamlike sense of wonder and stream of consciousness challenging the concept of time (arrow or circle?) It raises questions about our relationship and responsibility to future?/past? events for the fate of both the individual and humanity.

Amazing movie, both for a well crafted portrayal of alien life, and for accurately presenting time as symmetrical.
I did a double feature of it and A Ghost Story in the winter and was pretty devastated by the experience 10/10 would recommend

This movie is so great that I used to show it to my comm students. Always prompted a lengthy discussion about human communication, and existential philosophy. My big question was always: Knowing what the effects/consequences would be, would you want to learn Heptapod? Got a mixed response each time.

The short story by Ted Chiang that the movie is based on is great. All of Ted Chiang's short stories are great and original especially if you like sci-fi.
It was on TV just this evening. Hadn't seen the entire film before. Really enjoyed it. Love the theme that time isn't linear.
Isn't there a scene where the annoying scientist jerk asks her a question,and she just turns to Jeremy Renner and asks "why do I have to talk to him?" I think there is, because that's the moment I loved her. 😁

I got beef with that movie. Not once did she get forgiveness from her daughter. Or tell her she knew her illness.

Based on a fantastic short story
It was on another level. Amy should have finally won for this.
One of my favorites, and a guaranteed tearfest. I saw it for the first time only a couple months after my baby daughter was born. Every time I watch it (especially Richter's music), doesn't just cut, it skewers the very center of my core. It's good to watch movies that make you feel vulnerable.
Project Hail Mary is on sale at most places today for $13. Or if you still have cable movie channels it’s on Starz. Keep the good sci-fi choices going.

Recommended by my daughter and one of the bedt films ever. Could discuss it all day. Relationships. Language. Parenting. A very rich film. Also won Best Sound Editing.The sound was like a character in the film.
It's based on one of Ted Chiang's two works that I thought could never be made into movies; as much as I respect the man, I think the movie considerably improved on his novella. It's so refreshing to encounter a film that's both intellectually and emotionally challenging.

I loved the undertone morals in the movie. Always relevant. Great movie.
It’s so good. I felt a new understanding of this film when my mom started her Alzheimer’s journey and the past started being more present to her. Time became more fluid in her brain

I saw this when it came out, mainly because Renner was in it. If you DON"T want to cry, watch it backwards.
I love this movie. The idea that learning a new language changes, expands and enhances how your brain works really interests me.
