Tonight’s leftover meatloaf was fabulous after a few days in the fridge.
Soups, stews, and gumbos get better with time. I made a huge pot of seafood bisque on the 24th and we’re eating on it since. I froze some because I didn’t want it migrating to the back of the fridge and I’m already unfreezing it because the fam wants more.

Honestly, some things are better as leftovers. Any time I make spaghetti, for example, the sauce is always better the next day.
Two to three days after making gumbo = peak gumbo
Some leftovers improve the next day... chili, most soups and stews, spaghetti sauce. Today I finished my fourth meal of scalloped potatoes with Andouille sausage and they were still excellent. Leftover fish isn't usually great, unless it's swordfish.
Lots of fish and pastas here, but I need a serious veggie break.
So much leftovers. Right now in the fridge there’s chicken corn soup, pork and broccoli casserole, a chunk of rib steak I’m going to use for tacos tomorrow night, roasted cauliflower and carrots, and a big bowl of green salad.
Leftovers are always tastier for me. The flavours marinate in the fridge and food taste so much richer and flavoursome when reheated

Oh boy do we ever. 19 for our Christmas get together & I believe hubby & I are set for the winter. Including cookies even though I sent tons home with the families ❤️
Smart buying: what we need is what we buy. Only extras for the freezer. Nothing gets thrown away. Too much for us to eat? We invite a friend.
Got a pot of chicken tortilla soup in the works. Boiled chicken and made the stock yesterday. Chicken meat all pulled. I have about 1.5 times the 2 quarts of stock so will act accordingly with other ingredients.
Left over prime rib: first leftover meal: open faced sandwiches (mayo, prime rib, shredded cheese, onion in the broiler topped with tomatoes ) second leftover meal Beef Stroganoff (tonight). served with peas/mushrooms which were leftover.
Yesterday, we had leftover potatoes au gratin and pulled pork which got mixed into chili (just a premade chili from Costco), topped with leftover mozzi fries reheated in the air fryer. Tonight was cast iron pan pizzas done with freshly-made sauce and dough

Yup, we've got some prime rib, Mac N cheese, and pie still left.
I put mine to freeze. There is turkey for soup & pesto pasta, plus ham for beans. Can't wait.
We are gonna try our hand at tofu bagels.

I always make a big batch of everything so I can put some meals into the freezer. Saves time and money.
Leave it out for a few weeks, tastes even better.

Looks great! Sadly, my husband & I both had tummy upsets aftr eating so much rich food…homemade latkes (a lot of oil!), homemade lasagne (delicious, but so much fat!)…had to cut back on leftovers & even skipped coffee 4 tea this am!!!

We had (after removal of beef fat and bone) 14oz of meat left from the standing rib roast. So I made roast beef hash. It was delicious, fed 4, and there was none left to save.

Leftover Gumbo is best, one of the things that gets better from sitting, flavors all get mixed better. Damn, I don't want to stand & make the roux, the one time consuming part. Seafood Gumbo is now so expensive to make but so good but chicken & sausage is just fine too. ❤️🍽️

Looks wonderful. We had French dip sandwiches tonight from our leftover Xmas dinner prime rib. They were sooooooo good. That's horseradish by the way on that sandwich. Can't have prime rib without it!😉

We did OK, so not so much left over, some meats but thats about it, made some nice sarnies though.
Our family hung out at a diner. vernondiner.com I had a salad of winter greens and roasted vegetables, French onion soup, a gorgeous pot roast with lumpy mashed potatoes and green beans. Went back yesterday. Working on leftovers. Been going for 10 years, best diner food I’ve ever had.

I made a pot roast for Christmas dinner and finished up the leftovers last night. I'm all out of leftovers so I'll have to figure out something else for tonight.
We finally polished off the leftovers from our British-Spanish-American Christmas dinner. The turkey crown, roast beef, corn pudding, green beans, gravy, and giant pan of dressing are gone. Just a handful of roasties and some gammon left and a bacon wrapped date or two.

I make a seitan roast 💚🌱 every holiday with mushroom & onion gravy, mashed potatoes, roasted balsamic green beans, peas, and sage & onion stuffing. Going to enjoy those leftovers tonight 😋 Will be adding some roasted carrots.

When we host Christmas, the last night everyone stays over is charcuterie night. We do 3-5 big trays, always one with sweets, and as much variety as possible. Then we not only have grazing options while everyone packs up and leaves, but we have every meal set for 3 days after while we decompress.
We’re doing the same with our huge pot of posole- still delicious!

that's how I cook - I make several different dishes in an afternoon and then put quick meals together for the following days. Advantage is that food is ready when I am, like convenience foods but home made and healthier.

No, there's only me. I make just enough.
Gumbo is one of the things that gets better and better. We had cassoulet for that.
This year, I’m transforming rather than reheating leftovers. Made a lovely soup from the roasted butternut squash, and a modified Spanish omelette from the leftover mashed potatoes. Both were so good I’ve vowed to create more leftovers next year.

Your gumbo looks great! We finished up chicken wings, buffalo dip, meatballs and shrimp cocktail for dinner last night. It's nice not to have to cook for a few days after Christmas.

I'm a gumbo aficionado, and this looks wonderful! And gumbo is always best 24-72 hours after it's made, it just gets to sit and marinate in that lovely roux juice..... Damnit, now I have to make gumbo! 😂
