I lost interest after you made it about yourself
So basically what I’m getting is that CA gubernatorial candidates don’t know how to react to interviewers that get contentious out of the blue. Between Steyer and Porter though I’ll give it that Steyer handled it better if a bit awkwardly by trying to flex how he knows female editors.

This interview was really weird to read. The way the dialogue was formatted and edited was very clearly designed to paint Steyer in a bad light, but the stuff he was actually quoted as saying was very reasonable.

Steyer mis-names Drummond - a capital offense in the view of many hereabouts - and (poorly prepped for this one of many job interviews) presumptively devalues her executive role in a subculture rampant with misogyny. Shots fired, shots returned, no call-back.

I was disappointed at Steyer's lame "control, alt, delete" answers 1. Delete: LNG - LNG is not worse than coal 2. Control: CRYPTO - should have been his "Delete" choice. Crypto is a worthless speculation vehicle only useful for financial crimes 3. Alt[er]: AI REGULATIONS - good answer
I’m glad that Tom Steyer isn’t wasting mental real estate on the org charts for random magazines. Unlike some commenters here, I don’t think either of them comes off THAT badly in this exchange. But if you make me pick which of them seems more likable and normal, it’s gotta be Steyer.

Obviously candidates should know the biographies of every single person who interviews them, especially Katie Drummond who is Very Important.
The Global Editorial Director embarrassed herself in an interview that she thought was gotcha. It could be ambiguously interpreted in text but now she's ordering one of her subordinates post the video that makes her look worse on the company account. Journalist egos are something else.
I don’t know how you can interview a billionaire and come out of it looking like the more insufferable one, but we got a good example of it today.
I think the important thing about the interview is there's no discussion on the housing shortage, and his excellent housing policy is Steyer's biggest selling point.

I stopped reading Wired 30 years ago because the articles were about the writer and the writer's processes. I don't need to know that the car rental agent was unhelpful, or that it took six calls to secure an interview. I'd hoped that the mag had outgrown its self centeredness, but I guess not.
