We hear and appreciate your feedback on the photo carousel. We're going to put it back in the oven for now. We'll consider bringing it back for posts with more than four photos (or videos) when we add support for that.

I always wanted to have a harder time seeing what the artists I follow post, a dream come true, was really aggravating to see everything at a glance, just wasn't wasting enough of my time, thanks for remedying that.
I'm tempted to think the devs are intentionally doing all this nonsense to drive off the users responsible for this site's success, in order to make room for the weird nostr techbros they wanted in the first place. But that might be crediting them with too much intelligence.

I don't know what photographers you consulted that said this is better, but if you want to show images one at a time, it's more practical to just upload one image at a time. Now I have the unintended side effect of changing feeds and not knowing if some posts have more than one image
Can the devs PLEASE just listen to the people who use their app and stop doing just the worst possible choices? Increase in resolution is great, but the carousel is a huge downgrade. Please roll it back or at least offer the option to display images the other way. This will be actively detrimental to tons of art-focused creators on the site.
Please make the carousel photo view vs grid an option. I don’t want to swipe 4 times to see all the photos that people post when looking at my feeds.

Oh this is bad. Requiring horizontal swiping in a vertical social media site format? Nobody's going to use that, and artists/photographers are going to constantly get their images ignored. This needs to be opt-in per post, or not be there at all.

The horizontal carousel for images is awful, and it's not working properly having conflicts with the left drawer menu. Also, check global metrics, it's a bad idea to have an horizontal carousel for this, the visibility of image 2 onwards always plummet. A nice grid component is always better.

This is great! Please stop throttling us at 3-minute videos. Storage is cheap; at least give us 1 more minute. You could likely pick up many of the users fleeing TikTok if you made it easier to bring content over.
Chiming in to echo all the others - carousel is a major downgrade. Most users are *not* going to want to swipe on every post, especially when now there's no indication how many there even are?? Just go back to the grid. Plus, fyi, scrolling down from profile blocks on mobile is still broken...

Higher rez is fantastic, but would be nice for an opt-in on the carousel, or only having it activate for 5+ image posts. Lots of multi-image posts are being actively harmed by being shunted offscreen.

Kinda annoying how zoom is disabled on the mobile website. I am far from blind but I do have multiple eye conditions which make me use zoom a lot.
Like the higher res, but the image carousel just does not feel nice to use. I much prefer the tiled image setup we had before as it was very easy to see how many photos a post has from a glance. I wouldn't mind it being an option that can be toggles on or off

Carousels might seem like a cool idea but in practice are not great and aren't as good as tables imo, especially for four or fewer. It should be opt-in or a fallback not the default.

Rotate the carousel 90° and it should be better. Also give an option to use the old layout, if you haven't. It is highly counterintuitive to suddenly needing to scroll horizontally on a vertical feed.

I don't like this feature. The whole point of the grid of images is to get an immediate idea of what a post is about while scrolling. Having to STOP scrolling to scroll multiple photos in a post to see what it's about is inefficient, inelegant, and feels like a step backwards in usability. :(

This carrousel thing is a readability nightmare. I don't want people to guess how many images are in a post, in fact, I know people will pass over things that might be of their interest because 3 out of 4 images will be hidden from their view.
But they look so much worse. Only 1.5 visible unless you scroll. Pleas consider bringing back the grid.

Carousel is awful. Defeats the main purpose of multipe image upload.
Please return to the photo grid format. As an artist, it's annoying to not see all included images at once, and when they're landscape, you barely even see that there's more than one there. Also, side-scrolling on PC is not available to everyone, so they have to drag, which is awkward.
Building on carousel: Can you please make it so text of posts is on a single line and we have to scroll to read any longer than screen width.
We already have @flashes.blue for the slideshow view. The bluesky app can retain the grid view as the default view for media.

Didn’t your UX designers tell you that adding an extra swipe or click to access something that was previously displayed up front is a terrible idea? Never add extra friction to your UI! I’d make this an option that could be selected per-post. Users love having options, and you can AB test them!

Carousels are literally the worst. Why would you waste time on this. Screen resolutions are not 4000x4000 either. You arent getting better quality if you simply increase the resolution and compress it more. I'd rather see time spent on adding a setting to disable suggestions for follows/etc in feed

This is actually really bad! The rest of the images are hidden, as you demonstrate. What's the point in posting multiple images, then? I can't expect people to intuit that they must swipe when there's no clear reason to in the absence of seeing anything else...
