I've been putting DVDs and magazines in Little Free Libraries because--you can also get DVDs and magazines at regular libraries.

Those will get stolen. Or busted. We had a library for books down the road but some asses took out all the books and tore them up. So now no one uses it. Unfortunately there will always be someone who doesn't like the selection that will destroy it for everyone else
🇬🇧 . In the UK a lot of us still read BOOKS 😮 . Due to the almost universal use of mobile phones our beloved red telephone boxes are no longer required 😞 . SO, we have turned them into FREE libraries 😲 . They are very popular 😃👍 .

I rented an Airb&b a few years ago which had only a disc player & no cable. It took me a few minutes to figure it out bc I had completely forgotten how they work. I felt like I was being pranked. 🤣

We had a free book shelf in my neighborhood in San Francisco that was ongoing since Covid but seems to have been removed within the last month or so. It had tons of great books but people were also using it as a quasi free box, so it got quite unruly at times. Too bad. So many great books!

people use the LFL on my street pretty indiscriminately for books, DVDs, CDs, and shelf stable food!

When I lived in DC, I'd see the occasional DVD in those free libraries. When I moved to Philly, I caught the Shrek box 2 years ago with a couple Shrek DVDs

I've been wanting to set up LFLs with books containing depictions of historical events and characters next to national historic sites that have been (quite literally) white-washed, so those who are interested can learn the truth.

A bit nostalgic, but trips to the Blockbuster on a random Friday evening between ~1987-1995 were pretty great family/friend outings. Might snag a latest release from the back wall or a great old comedy you wanted to watch for the 10th time. Maybe even some Dots or twizzlers.
